I just saw Amanda Knox on TV doing something Amanda Knox-ie. Now I’m wondering if she’ll ever have a normal dating life, because these are the things I think about. I wondered the same thing about Casey Anthony and Monica Lewinsky. I did not, however question weather Anthony Weiner would have a normal dating life once his scandal publicity died down (assuming his wife left him, which I don’t know if she did).

I only wonder about the lives of public women. I wonder what it would be like to be the man to date Monica, Casey or Amanda (look we’re already on a first name basis). I always wondered if women rock bands, or women singers in general, bang male groupies out on tour. Are there even such creatures? We all assume, and know, that male bands have, and often bang female groupies. So what’s to stop the ladies from partaking in the same pleasures?

I think it all comes back to double standards. Boys will be boys, but girls better not be boys.

Is there a problem with a 30 year old man singing Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” while walking around a college campus? I don’t think so, but then again I do a lot of shit that others tend to think of as strange or creepy, especially when it comes to being a full-time student at 30.

It’s not that my younger schoolmates are not strange in their own ways, it’s just that I’m beyond the age of care. I’m comfortable with who I am now as a dude and I don’t feel the need to hide that. I remember in high school I had a new personality every year. I went from little thug (hilarious), to stoner, to clown before settling on dude. Even in the military I changed my personality a lot. I went through a hardcore military man faze which lead to a Southern Republican faze (weird times) before coming around again to dude. Good thing I didn’t go for bro because I’d be stuck wearing Ed Hardy crap these days, and that shit is FUBAR.

In the end I don’t mean to pick on my young scholars and future noblemen, it’s just that a lot of them are still trying to figure out who they are and what their roll is going to be in the world. Where as I’m past that point and sometimes the small age gap seems rather large.

Let’s Go Crazy my Darling Nikki

“Purple Rain” is on and whenever it is on it is required viewing for me. While watching I looked at the Wikipedia page for both the album and the movie, because I like to Wiki everything that comes my way. It says that Prince originally wrote a “darker and more coherent script.” Okay, then why don’t we have that version? I find the current version pretty coherent, but a darker one could have been fun. Makes me curious. On the off chance Prince stops by: Could you send me a copy of the original script? Thanks.
